Our Vision
The lack of sustainable use and management of global water resources undermines progress and development. Yet, integrated water management and sustainable sanitation are still the exception rather than the norm - despite the urgent need for water and nutrients for food and other goods productions and the contamination of aquatic ecosystems.
By strengthening the private sector and supporting start-ups and entrepreneurs from the sector, cewas contributes to the development and the implementation of solutions which are based on the concept of Sustainable Sanitation and Water Management (SSWM). The concept of SSWM links up integrated water resource management (IWRM), sustainable sanitation and agriculture. It focuses on human influence on the water cycle, its linkages to agriculture, and a sustainable use, treatment and reuse of all water resources (see also www.sswm.info).
