Transparency, Information Management and Governance in Latin America

Pdf

Despite Latin America´s abundance of water resources, the region still faces severe problems related to supply, distribution and access to water. The high levels of corruption prevailing in infrastructure, as well as governance and management challenges hinder equitable access to water. The Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) initiated the project “Transparency, information management and governance in the water and sanitation sector”. The initiative aimed at supporting key actors of the water and sanitation sector in the development and implementation of policies, tools, mechanisms and practices that have led to improve the governance and transparency of the sector in Latin America. Within this context, the Water Integrity Network (WIN), Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) and cewas formed the consortium that carried out the technical cooperation, through which integrity change processes have been initiated based on the “Integrity ManagementToolbox” in several countries of Latin America such as Ecuador, Honduras or Guatemala.
