In 2024, Cewas solidified its role as a global leader in supporting impactful water and sanitation entrepreneurship. A major milestone was the launch of the MajiFund, a USD 5 million facility providing catalytic funding and technical assistance to early-stage WASH SMEs in Africa. Regionally, key programmes were implemented, including Business-in-a-Box in Uganda, enabling rural enterprises to scale sustainable water supply models; the Water & Climate Accelerator in Iraq, supporting eight SMEs with tailored strategies; and the Green Accelerator in Jordan, fostering eco-innovative businesses with international backing. Jordan also hosted initiatives such as the Food Waste Hackathon and Field Innovation Schools, promoting youth-driven solutions for agro-food and environmental challenges. In Africa, the first Female Health & Hygiene Accelerator supported women-led enterprises in three countries tackling menstrual health and hygiene. In Latin America, Cewas supported three innovative ventures in rural areas through the SIRWASH programme (in Brazil, Peru, and Guatemala), launched an open innovation platform in Colombia in partnership with community-based organisations, and delivered a national integrity training programme for river basin management in Brazil. Thanks to long-standing collaboration with over 400 enterprises, ventures supported by Cewas have collectively helped avoid nearly 7 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, created over 1,900 full-time equivalent jobs, and improved access to sustainable services for millions of people across Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
